The month of July beams with warmth and strength. It is also filled with spending a lot of time doing the things that matter most. That’s why it is so fitting to celebrate this strong and hardworking lady, Michelle Watson Wolfe, as our July Betty of the Month!

It’s been since 2018 since we last checked in with Michelle. Not only has Michelle been part of Team Betty’s surf team for 10 years now, but she also has such a rad career running her own pool-technician business, which was awarded best female pool technician in the nation. She also surfs for and manages the girls’ division for the Ventura Board Riders Club.

Michelle not only does it all, but does it all with passion, heart, and dedication. She is a strong role model for all women and truly exemplifies that hard work and commitment are the backbone of making a dream a reality. Most importantly, Michelle continues to connect herself to the water daily, whether she’s hard at work cleaning pools or going out for a surf.

Let’s catch up with Michelle and see what she’s been up to since the last time!

“I’ve been running my Pool and Spa service and repair business (Shell’s Pool and Spa Services) for almost 20 years now.”

“In 2022, I won an award for the best female pool technician in the nation. Since then, I have spoken at large pool expos,
helping other woman in the industry grow and achieve their goals.”

“I was featured in Pool Pro Magazine as ‘a female who stands out in a male-dominated industry,’ and I was recently honored to be on the cover of Aqua magazine, wearing my favorite Betty Belt ‘Michelle’ Necklace with the beautiful Ale Pearl Charm. It feels good to be recognized for all of the endless hours of hard work that come with running a successful business.”

“Since I haven’t been able to take more than three days off from work in a very long time, my vacations have pretty much been a quick trip to surf wave pools, which I definitely have enjoyed! But I also feel lucky and blessed to be able to sneak out for a surf on my lunch break most days. The ocean is what keeps me healthy, strong, patient, and happy.”

“I also Surf for the Ventura Board Riders Club, and I am the team manager for the girls’ division. When I started shortboarding in Ventura, a very long time ago, there was really only like one or two female shortboarders here in the area.”

“Today it’s nice to see so many female short boarders in the lineup! Currently, I’m putting together surf meetups to get the girls together and create a positive community amongst us.

Community is where it’s at! I look forward to the progression of our local girls, and I’m stoked to be the mama bear for the team.”

Michelle, you are a powerhouse, and we are so blessed that you are part of Team Betty. Thank you for continuing to represent the courage and commitment it takes to be a strong, compassionate woman in today’s world for future generations to come.
