We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this beautiful, strong, and multi-talented woman as our August Betty of the Month, Makena Burke!
The last time we checked in with Makena was back in 2020; she was just a teenager. As part of Betty’s surf team, we have seen Makena blossom into the brilliant and ambitious young woman she is now. Makena is a force in and out of the water. Surfing with power on waves all around, while continuing to hit the books, pursuing her career in dentistry to become a Navy dentist and later possibly specializing in Orthodontics!
Let’s see what Makena has been up to over the past 6 years!
“My most recent fave surf adventure was when I went to Kauai with my mom and cousin two weeks ago for my summer break!”
“I’m really into Pilates right now (and putting Laird Superfood Creamer in my coffees every morning). I have been living in San Francisco for a whole year now and love exploring new parts of the city whenever I can. I just moved to the Haight District and can’t wait to explore my new neighborhood in the city.”
“My fave Betty designs are the Dapped gold-filled chain combined with the Ale Teardrop Pearl Charm necklace.”
“My goals for 2028 are to enjoy treating patients during my second year of dental school, get good grades, and continue to surf whenever I can! I will be graduating in two years and am focused on learning as much as I can before I graduate and start practicing somewhere (hopefully) in California!”
Makena, we can’t believe all the amazing things you are doing in this world. Keep on chasing your dreams, and just remember, the ocean will always be there waiting for you.
